In simple language Typhidot is a blood test to diagnose typhoid infection or fever. The test detects the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies in the blood which are formed against the typhoid bacteria. If the test finds that the IgG and IgM are positive then the result is positive for typhoid infection else negative.
A typhidot IgG & IgM test is a blood test to diagnose or rule out a typhoid infection. Typhoid is a water borne infection caused by contamination of contaminated sewage water with regular water. It is bacterial infection. Typhidot test checks for IgG and IgM antibodies in the blood which are formed to fight the bacteria that causes typhoid infection or fever.
Typhidot IgG and IgM test gives the presence of IgG and IgM antibodies in the blood. If the test finds the antibodies it states the result as positive and if the antibodies are not available then it says negative as result. Positive result means that the person is having typhoid infection that is causing the fever.
It is to be noted that IgG positive can also be there if the person had been vaccinated for typhoid infection in the past. Hence a consultation with the doctor is a must to clearly understand the results. The physician will corelate the results with the symptoms to plan the treatment.
